The milk temperature is too high.
Good milk froth can only be achieved when cold milk (below 50°F/10°C) is used.
Check the temperature of the milk in the milk flask.
If the temperature is above 10°C, refrigerate the milk.

The milk sputters when it is dispensed. Although the milk should be frothed, only hot milk comes out of the central spout. Hissing noises may be heard when milk is being heated up or frothed (CM 6x60 countertop appliance).
The connecting piece for the milk pipework has not been inserted in the central spout correctly.
If the connecting piece is not inserted correctly, air ingress occurs. This makes the temperature too high and causes the milk froth to spit.
Check whether the milk pipework is correctly inserted on the central spout:
Push the central spout down completely and remove the stainless steel cover by pulling it off toward you.
Make sure that the seam on the connection of the central spout matches the seam on the connecting piece of the milk pipework (double hose).
The milk pipework (double hose) has not been inserted correctly into the rinse valve.
The double hose of the milk pipework has different diameters. Make sure all parts are assembled correctly.
Insert the double hose of the milk pipework precisely into the rinse valve.
The nozzles on the central spout are clogged.
Clean the central spout’s stainless steel cover by hand only using warm water and liquid dish soap. All other parts are dishwasher-safe.
Stubborn soiling is easier to clean if you soak the individual components overnight in water and liquid dish soap. Rinse the components under running water afterward.
Use the supplied cleaning brush for parts that are difficult to reach in the dispensing unit.
Clean the central spout.
Push the central spout down completely and remove the stainless steel cover by pulling it off toward you.
Remove the dispensing unit toward the front.
Pull the upper silicone section with the aperture for the milk pipework (1) off the black holder (2).
The gray silicone section (1) contains a black, cylindrical component (3). Pull out the black component (3).
Remove the spouts (4).
Soak the spouts (4) in water with a little washing-up liquid for around 1 hour to remove stubborn deposits. Then knead the spouts under running water to loosen any soiling.
Pull the gray silicone insert (5) out of the black component (3).
Clean the small pipe on the black component (3) with the cleaning brush (see illustration).
Clean all apertures on the black holder (2) with the cleaning brush.
Angle the cleaning brush slightly and clean both spouts.
Clean all parts thoroughly.
Rinse all parts under running water.
Clean the area behind the central spout on the coffee machine with a damp sponge cloth.
The dispensing unit is easier to reassemble if the individual parts are dampened with water.
Reassemble the dispensing unit.
Push the spouts firmly all the way round so that the dispensing unit is firmly seated in the groove.
Install the dispensing unit back on the central spout.
Reinstall the stainless steel cover.
Connect the milk pipework if necessary. Make sure that the seam on the connection of the central spout matches the seam on the connecting piece of the milk pipework (double hose).
Make sure that all parts are tightly connected to one another.
The central spout is not correctly mounted and is taking in air.
Check whether the central spout is correctly assembled.
Make sure that all parts are tightly connected to one another.
The steam nozzle on the central spout is clogged.
Clean the steam nozzle once a month.
Push the central spout down completely and remove the stainless steel cover by pulling it off toward you.
Remove the dispensing unit toward the front.
The steam nozzle can be damaged if the cleaning brush is inserted too far.
Push the cleaning brush a maximum of 1 cm into the steam nozzle.
Clean the steam nozzle with the cleaning brush.
Reinstall the dispensing unit onto the central spout.
Reinstall the stainless steel cover.
The milk system has not been sufficiently cleaned.
The milk pipework is clogged with dried milk deposits.
Clean the milk system at least once a week.
Clean the milk system either by hand, in the dishwasher, or using the Clean the milk pipework maintenance program and a cleaning agent for milk pipework.
The Miele cleaning agent for milk pipework has been specially developed for coffee machines and completely removes milk proteins and milk fats. You can purchase the cleaning agent for milk pipework from the Miele online store.
Also clean the milk system parts in the dishwasher from time to time.
Alternatively, soak all parts of the milk system, especially the silicone plug, overnight in warm water and a little liquid dish soap once a week. Rinse all parts of the milk system under running water.
Risk to health due to inadequate cleaning.
Milk naturally contains bacteria. Heat and moisture inside the coffee machine can cause these bacteria to multiply, e.g., milk residues can go off and pose a risk to health.
Clean all components in which milk is transported thoroughly on a regular basis.
Risk of damage as a result of excessively high dishwasher temperatures.
Components may be ruined (e.g., may become warped) if washed in a dishwasher at temperatures higher than 55°C.
For dishwasher-safe components, always select dishwasher programs with a maximum temperature of 55°C.
Clean the milk pipework and the rinse valve by hand.
Pull the silicone plug (1) out of the rinse valve body (2).
Risk of damage due to incorrect cleaning.
The silicone plug can be damaged by pointed objects, e.g., the supplied cleaning brush, and stop working.
Be sure to remove the silicone plug before cleaning the rinse valve body with a cleaning brush or similar utensil.
Do not use pointed objects, e.g., a needle, to clean the silicone plug.
Do not move or remove the white balls in the silicone plug.
Only clean the silicone plug under running water and/or in the dishwasher. Do not use the cleaning brush supplied to clean the silicone plug.
Rinse the silicone plug under running water. Do not use pointed objects to remove any milk residues.
Use the brush to clean the rinse valve body under running water.
Also clean the hose connections in the rinse valve body. To do this, insert the cleaning brush into both openings and move the brush back and forth.
Rinse the milk pipework and the rinse valve body under running water.
Reassemble the rinse valve.
The connecting piece of the milk pipework, the stainless steel tube of the milk flask, or the milk siphon are clogged.
The connecting piece, the stainless steel tube of the milk flask, or the milk siphon are clogged with dried milk deposits.
Clean the connecting piece, the stainless steel tube of the milk flask, or the milk siphon every day.
Clean the milk flask every day.
If necessary, soak the parts overnight in water and a little liquid dish soap. Rinse all parts of the milk system under running water.
To give the individual parts of the milk flask an extra thorough clean, clean them in the dishwasher from time to time.
Clean the milk siphon (2) every day.
Rinse the milk siphon under running water.
Pull the connecting piece (3) off the milk siphon.
Clean the parts by hand under running water with a little liquid dish soap.
Dry the parts.
Clean the milk flask (1) every day.
Unscrew the lid from the milk flask glass.
Remove the stainless steel tube.
If necessary, you can remove the connecting piece and sealing ring from the milk flask lid. Once you have removed the stainless steel tube, the connecting piece is easy to push out from the inside of the lid.
Clean all parts of the milk flask by hand using warm water and a little liquid dish soap.
Dry the parts.
The silicone plug in the rinse valve of the milk pipework is damaged or the balls are missing.
An undamaged silicone plug and the two white balls (shown in red in the picture), which are located in the silicone plug, are essential for the milk system to function properly.
Risk of damage due to incorrect cleaning.
The silicone plug can be damaged by pointed objects, e.g., the supplied cleaning brush, and stop working.
Be sure to remove the silicone plug before cleaning the rinse valve body with a cleaning brush or similar utensil.
