No drink being dispensed

The coffee machine is not dispensing a drink even though the beans have been ground and there is sufficient water in the water container.

The brew unit is blocked.

To clean the brew unit, proceed as follows:

  • Unlock the brew unit and pull it out of the coffee machine.

  • When you have removed the brew unit, do not change the position of the handle on the brew unit.

    Otherwise the brew unit cannot be reinserted.

  • Clean the brew unit by hand under warm running water without using any cleaning agent.

  • CM xxx and CVA 7xxx:

  • Wiping filters | Brew unit | CM xxx and CVA 7xxx coffee machine
  • CVA 5xxx and 6xxx:

  • Wiping filters | Brew unit | CVA xxxx coffee machine
  • Wipe any coffee grounds off the filters (see arrows).

  • Dry the funnel to prevent ground coffee from sticking to it the next time a coffee is made.

  • Clean the interior of the coffee machine. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dry ground coffee residues.

Degreasing the brew unit:

  • CM xxx and CVA 7xxx:

  • Inserting cleaning tablet | Brew unit | CM xxx and CVA 7xxx coffee machine
  • Drop a cleaning tablet into the top of the brew unit (arrow).

  • Slide the brew unit with the cleaning tablet into the coffee machine and lock the brew unit.

  • Close the door of the coffee machine.

  • Clean the brew unit with the cleaning tablet for degreasing using the Degrease brew unit or Clean brew unit maintenance program.

  • CVA 5xxx and 6xxx:

  • Slide the brew unit into the coffee machine and lock the brew unit.

  • Close the door of the coffee machine.

  • Select the Degrease brew unit maintenance program in the Maintenance area under Main menu.

  • Inserting cleaning tablet | Brew unit | CVA 6xxx coffee machine
  • When the display shows Insert cleaning tablet in ground coffee chute and close, remove the cover for the ground coffee chute and open the lid for the ground coffee chute.

  • Place the cleaning tablet in the ground coffee chute.

  • Close the lid for the ground coffee chute, replace the cover for the ground coffee chute, and close the appliance door.

  • Follow the instructions on the display.

  • When the display shows Process finished, confirm the message with OK.

The coffee grinder channel is blocked.

In order to remove coffee residues properly from the coffee grinder channel, vacuum out the ground coffee chute once a year with the vacuum cleaner attachment (supplied where applicable).

Clean the ground coffee chute as follows:

  • Open the appliance door on the right-hand side of the coffee machine.

  • Remove the ground coffee drawer.

  • Vacuuming out | Ground coffee chute | Countertop coffee machine
  • Insert the vacuum cleaner attachment.

  • Use the suction wand of your vacuum cleaner to vacuum out the ground coffee chute.

  • Remove the vacuum cleaner attachment.

  • Reinstall the ground coffee drawer.

  • Close the coffee machine door.
